Why the secret to success is setting the right goals

I am sure you have heard how important goal setting is.

Let's back that concept up.

Today I am going to take you through the exact method I use to produce my goals and how you can too.

If I take a look back on my life 5-6 years ago when I wasn't producing goals my life was miserable.

I was:

  • Unmotivated

  • Uninspired

  • No drive

  • No discipline

  • Lazy

  • Depressed

  • Anxious

One day I saw a post on social media about goalsetting and I became curious.

  • What even were goals?

  • What did I want out of life?

  • How did you set them?

I'm sure you're asking yourself the same questions as you read this newsletter.

See as we go through life we are not taught how to identify what it is we are going after.

Well, at least I wasn't.

It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted out of life, so seeing that social media post was the wake-up call I needed.

I began to research:

  • Watching youtube videos

  • Looking into articles

  • Asking my friends if they had heard about goal setting

Until one day I was recommended a book called The 5 am Club by Robin Sharma. LINK

That's when I started to understand what goals were.

A goal is something that you pursue daily towards a major vision you have for your life.

When you start to identify what your vision is then you can start to break it down into bite-size chunks on what you need to do each day to make that a reality.

It took me a long time to understand but now I can happily say I have found a formula that works for me and I hope it can work for you.

Let's start with why a daily to-do list is important to make your vision a reality.

A daily to-do list:

  • Keeps you accountable

  • Allows you to focus on the lever-moving task

  • Helps you build grit and determination

  • Gives you faith that you are moving in the right direction

The beauty of a to-do list is you can have it written in a journal or a program-like notion.

Each night before I go to bed I look at the projects I am working on and identify what tasks are going to move the needle.

I make sure that I keep my to-do list to about 5 tasks, this is so I don't become overwhelmed.

Over time this has been trial and error as I used to have 8-10.

I found mentally when I would observe, I would instantly become overwhelmed so I trimmed it down.

What works for me may not work for you.

You need to conduct your experiment.

In the 4 week program I run, week 2 is solely focused on goal setting.

We'll look at each core area of your life and begin to look at which one you would like to set a goal in.

This will help you identify what you want.

And remember there are no limits to what it is you desire.

Accountability is key when it comes to this process, this is why doing it in a group is more powerful.

As humans we are goal-orientated beings and when you're not pursuing that mechanism your working against your goal-setting abilities.

I recently watched this YouTube video with Steven Kotler and he goes into great depth. LINK

This causes:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Overwhelm

  • Exhaustion

So if you've been wondering why you feel miserable all the time this could be a partial reason why, but hey I'm not you.

Are you ready to start setting goals in your life?

Are you ready to live a life worth living?

If any of this newsletter resonate with you?

I strongly recommend you book a call with me to strategise on how we can implement goal setting into your life.

It's never too late to start to make your dreams a reality.

But they will never become a reality if you don't get started.

I look forward to connecting with you and hope you have an amazing week.

Much love.
