When life’s not going to plan - we look to your vision.

Have you thought about what life would be like in 10-20 years time?

I'm guessing not.

Most of us are wired to think short term, rather than long term.

It's easy to get caught up in the rules and regulations society has placed on us.

That is why today we are going to look at how we can optimise for the whole:

If you are in the plumbing industry, you'll see that quite a lot of companies are now pivoting into the maintenance sector.

As nature grows, we grow and fortunately or unfortunately, the companies who aren't set up too optimise for the whole will be deleted.

Over the 9 years I was on the tools I was fortunate enough to experience multiple companies.

Most of them went into liquadation and that is a direct correlation of not having the business set up in a way it could withstand hardship.

You must plan on the plan not going to plan.

Enter the maintenance industry.

  • Fixing a stormwater pipe

  • Changing a bib tap

  • Changing a washer

  • Fixing a leaking roof

Maintenance will always be around for years to come.

There are always going to be pros and cons to starting in maintenance and I do believe we need more business owners.

Pros:

  • Working the hours you like

  • Spending time with your family

  • Being specific with the jobs you get

  • Building a great company culture

Cons:

  • Dealing with late payments

  • Not knowing how to start

  • Finding work

  • Underestimating costs

So 10-20 years from now, what do you see yourself doing?

Is it being employed?

Or

Is it running your own business?

I know this may be a hard question to ask but it's time to get ahead of the curve.

There is a major opportunity for future maintenance owners right now.

Are you willing to invest in your own skillset?

If so..

Start listening on the way to work and on the way home.

Like the construction sites in the city – you'll need a solid foundation.

Especially if this business is going to last generations to come.

The business won't run unless you’re running “Pardon the pun”.

Here are 3 non-negotiables you must have when starting a maintenance business.

  • Making sure the bills are paid so you can focus

  • Having a well structured exercise routine

  • Having a mentor you can ask questions to

Each person will have their own needs so trial and learn.

It's time to start thinking longterm.

I hope you took value and feel free to share it with a friend.

Much love.
